Role of hyaluronic acid in human skin

Human skin naturally contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a hydrophilic molecule that has a unique capacity to absorb 1000 times its own weight in water.

Distributed throughout the skin, hyaluronic acid plays a key role in dermal hydration and tissue repair, and thus contributes to the skin’s youthful, plump and smooth appearance.

The effects of time

The body’s ability to synthesize hyaluronic acid decreases with time. By the age of 40, hyaluronic acid production rate is around half of that in the 20s. The continuous decline in hyaluronic acid is one of the leading causes of skin aging. Fortunately, it is possible to replenish the skin’s HA. Conventional methods

The other method involves invasive injections and fillers, which don’t come without high costs and medical intervention.
